Stage 3

Electrical and functional diagram design

Once the specification and system architecture are approved, Sigmacs moves on to detailed design — developing the electrical and functional diagrams.

These documents are the "working drawings" for installers, commissioning engineers and operating staff. Their accuracy and completeness directly determine how quickly cabinets are assembled, whether equipment is connected correctly, and how reliable the whole automated system is.

Components and electrical drawings

We produce diagrams in strict compliance with GOST, the Electrical Installation Code (PUE), internal technical regulations and the approved specification, using modern CAD systems.

Electrical diagrams — precise installation instructions

Electrical diagrams are the detailed documents used to assemble control cabinets and connect equipment on site. We develop several types of diagrams in accordance with GOST 2.701-2008 and GOST 2.702-2015.

Electrical schematic diagrams (E3)

  • Show the complete set of electrical equipment and the electrical connections between elements
  • Include PLCs, relays, contactors, circuit breakers, frequency converters, power supplies and terminal blocks
  • The types, catalogue numbers, ratings and parameters of all components are specified
  • Used for commissioning and diagnostics

Connection and wiring diagrams (E4)

  • Detail the marking of cables, cores and terminals
  • Show which wires run from the cabinet to the sensors, pumps and valves on site
  • Contain connection tables with cable lengths, cross-sections and core colours
  • Used by installers when laying cable routes

Equipment layout diagrams (E7)

  • Show the physical layout of components inside the control cabinet
  • Help assemblers install PLCs, relays, terminal blocks and fans correctly

Functional diagrams — control logic made visual

A functional diagram is a graphical representation of the algorithm of an automated process. It shows how equipment, sensors, actuators and the controller interact, without reference to specific electrical circuits.

What a functional diagram shows

  • Process blocks and how they connect: "tank → pump → pipeline → consumer"
  • Symbols for level, pressure and temperature sensors and for actuators: valves, motors
  • Logical rules: "if level < 1 m → start the pump", "if pressure > 6 bar → open the relief valve"
  • Operating modes: manual, automatic, emergency
  • Alarms and interlocks: for example, a pump cannot start while its valve is closed

Why it matters

  • Understand how the system will work before it is built
  • Agree the control logic with process engineers and operators
  • Use the diagram as a basis for staff training

How Sigmacs designs

  • A single component library

We use up-to-date libraries with data from trusted suppliers: OWEN, Delta, Segnetics, Kinco and others.

  • Compliance with quality standards

All diagrams are reviewed internally by our Quality Department.

  • Compatibility with production

The diagrams are tailored to our assembly workshop from the start, which speeds up cabinet manufacturing.

  • Support at every stage

Our engineers advise installers and commissioning engineers on the diagrams throughout the project.
