Stage 5

Commissioning and handover

The final stage, where automation starts working for you.

Once the equipment is installed and the PLCs programmed, the most critical stage begins — commissioning and formal handover of the system. This is when all the components of the process control system run together for the first time, the algorithms are verified, and the client sees that the system does its job.

Start-up of an automated unit in a workshop

Sigmacs carries out commissioning in strict compliance with SNiP 3.05.06-85, the Electrical Installation Code (PUE), internal technical regulations and the approved specification.

What commissioning includes

Checking installation and connections

  • Visual inspection of control cabinets, cable routes and earthing
  • Checking that marking is correct and matches the E4 connection diagrams
  • Insulation resistance and earthing circuit tests

Comprehensive equipment testing

  • Checking that every sensor works
  • Testing actuators: pumps, valves, motors, frequency converters
  • Diagnostics of communication between PLCs, HMI panels and the SCADA system

Software configuration and debugging

  • Loading and testing the PLC program under real conditions
  • Calibration of analogue signals, e.g. 4–20 mA
  • Tuning of control parameters: PID loops for pressure, temperature and more
  • Checking interlock and emergency stop logic

Integration testing of the whole system

  • Running all operating modes: manual, automatic, emergency
  • Simulation of normal and abnormal situations: "level drop", "communication loss", "motor overheating"
  • Checking that alerts work: sound, light, Telegram messages, event log entries

Staff training

  • Hands-on sessions with operators and dispatchers
  • Review of typical situations and response procedures

System handover

After successful commissioning, the facility is formally accepted.

  • A certificate of completed work is drawn up
  • The process control system acceptance certificate is signed

Operating documentation is handed over, including:

  • Electrical and functional diagrams
  • PLC and SCADA source code
  • Operating and diagnostic manuals
  • Equipment certificates
  • Warranty obligations

From this moment the system is considered to be in commercial operation, and the warranty period begins.

What makes the Sigmacs approach different

  • Work in difficult conditions: our engineers have commissioning experience at utility facilities, food production workshops, industrial plants and remote settlements
  • Safety first: all emergency scenarios are tested before anything else
  • A transparent process: the client takes part in acceptance, sees every stage and can ask questions on the spot
  • Support after handover: even after the certificates are signed we stay in touch — under warranty and beyond

What you get after handover

  • Stable operation

The system runs reliably 24/7 without false alarms.

  • Process monitoring

Operators control the process confidently and respond to alarms.

  • Data acquisition

Data is collected and archived correctly.

  • Savings

The client saves through less downtime, fewer resource losses and a lighter workload for staff.
